to take vocal lessons…. now where does one seek out this service?
Turns out that you can’t answer more than once.
As I was rambling, any music store is packed with ads from teachers. There should be at least two at any given location. Shopping for a teacher is tricky, as you won’t know how effective they are for weeks, so just go with someone who you won’t...

Shakespeare in the Bush →
An American in the 60s lives for a time with a tribe in West Africa. During storytelling time, she tries to recount the supposedly timeless plot of Hamlet to an audience that doesn’t believe in insanity, ghosts, or naturally-occurring drowning, among other things.

Moopsball →
“Moopsball requires three days to be played. A weekend beginning with a Friday is the best time. Activities begin in the pre-dawn hours, with the gathering of forces.

This is strangely nostalgic for me. I highly recommend the index of moves, as many of them are explained wordlessly in the form of a single photograph.

I like how the video provides an example of the platform being “optimized for massive data sets & time-critical work” in the form of what appears to be some sort of global thermonuclear war simulation.
Valerie Solanas - The SCUM Manifesto →
I’d heard of this for some time, but I just got around to reading it tonight. Valerie Solanas is best known for having shot Andy Warhol and one of his associates (I gather from mild research that it was essentially over business dealings that got dire alarmingly quickly, with the author believing that she had been tricked out of rights and payment to her work in perpetuity), I think, but...

Words of esoteric nature likely to be trimmed from... →
There are a couple words here that are still in quasiregular use, though only among niche audiences. I like trying to guess the origins of some of these. Most seem simply archaic, but “compossible” seems like a made-up word of modern vintage.
